How Eden Valley's Scholarship Fund Works

How Eden Valley's Scholarship Fund Works

Eden Valley's Scholarship Fund exists to help people get mental health care. If you have come across a donation page and wondered what a gift does, this post walks through the examples we share and how giving works.

What the Scholarship Fund is

Eden Valley is the clinical division of Revolution Youth, Inc., a Vermont 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Burlington. Donations made on our give page go to Eden's Scholarship Fund.

The idea is simple. Therapy is valuable, and cost can be a real barrier. The fund exists so that cost stands in the way of fewer people.

Cost shapes who gets care and when. Some people may wait until things are very hard before they call. Others may start therapy and stop because they cannot keep up with sessions. A scholarship does not solve every barrier, but it can remove one of the most common ones.

Giving to a fund like this means you do not need to know who will benefit. You are helping make sessions possible for someone who might not otherwise be able to attend.

What a gift can cover

We share three examples so donors can picture where a gift lands.

  • $120 sponsors a session
  • $600 funds 5 sessions for a teen
  • $1,400 provides a couple with 10 sessions

Any gift is welcome, and these amounts are examples of what common gift sizes can do. A single session can matter. Five sessions give a teen time to build a relationship with a therapist. Ten sessions give a couple room to work on communication together.

Why per-session amounts?

Therapy happens one session at a time, so it is easy to think about a gift in the same way. Sponsoring one session is a concrete, understandable gesture. Funding five or ten sessions supports the kind of steady work that therapy usually involves.

Why teens and couples are named

Teens and couples are both groups we serve, and the examples reflect that. A multi-session gift gives a teen or a couple room to settle into the work instead of being limited to a single visit.

Who the fund helps

Eden Valley serves children, teens, individuals and couples, and the examples above reflect that range. You can read more about what we offer on our services page.

Teens are one group you will see named in the fund. If you want to see a program that is already free to families, look at Worthy, our free healthy relationships group for teens in Burlington.

Giving alongside other kinds of support

A gift to the Scholarship Fund works alongside the rest of our services. Eden Valley is a working clinic, with therapists, groups and training programs, and the fund is one way community members can strengthen it. If you want a closer look at what the clinic does day to day, our services page and groups page are good places to start.

If you give in honor of someone, or if your workplace offers donation matching, ask your employer how that works. We can answer general questions about the organization, but we cannot give tax advice.

How giving works

You can give online through the give page. Revolution Youth, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. For tax questions specific to you, please check with a tax professional.

Money is not the only way to help. Clinicians can explore our careers page, and students can look at the clinical internship program. Sharing our work with someone who might need care also helps.
