Rachel Charash is a therapist at Eden Valley in Burlington, Vermont. Her work is empathic, curious, and client-centered. This post introduces her background, specialties, and how to reach her.
An empathic, curious approach
Some people find it hard to open up in therapy, no matter how many therapists they have tried. Rachel approaches each client relationship with empathy and curiosity. She helps people identify and work through their experiences and feelings at their own pace, without judgment.
She has particular experience supporting emerging adults as they identify their values, build skills, and develop a sense of self while individuating from their family of origin. She also works with life transitions, behavioral concerns, relationship challenges, health issues, and identity development. She has experience supporting people detoxing from a variety of substances in a residential treatment setting.
What Rachel works on
- Life transitions and individuation: helping emerging adults identify their values, build skills, and find their footing in independence
- Relationship and family challenges: working through relational and family patterns with curiosity and care
- Trauma and PTSD: supporting clients in processing difficult experiences at a pace that respects their readiness. Rachel is one of the Eden Valley clinicians who offers Prolonged Exposure. Read more about what that treatment looks like.
- Substance use and recovery: drawing on direct experience supporting clients through residential detox and early recovery
Training
Rachel holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Saint Michael's College (2025). During her graduate internship at UVM Counseling and Psychiatry Services (CAPS), she supported college students with anxiety and depression, chronic pain, PTSD and trauma, relational and family issues, and identity development. That work still shapes her approach.
Whatever brings someone in, her focus stays the same: helping each client feel heard, understood, and respected.
