At the core of Lydia’s work is the belief that every person lives their own reality, and that no two realities are the same. A person’s understanding of the world and the self are influenced by a network of family, community, the environment, and culture. Lydia’s work with a client includes identifying those influences, with the goal of forming a healthy connection to self. Lydia also deeply believes in the value of finding meaning in life. Utilizing the present focus of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with the skill-building of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and the personal story-telling of Narrative Therapy, Lydia supports clients in finding meaning and setting achievable goals. With a Masters of Art Education, Lydia also favors the inclusion of creative expression whenever this feels helpful. If appropriate to a session, Lydia embraces the opportunity to introduce a material or to suggest some creative exploration.
